"We've been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season 1, so it's thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our 'Rivervale' special event," showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly. "It's also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds — I think fans will, too. It's really fun and special." Sabrina will be arriving in Riverdale in the sixth season's fourth episode, titled "The Witching Hour(s)." Fans of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are excited to see their favorite witch resurrected in another show, especially after the show was canceled after four seasons due to the pandemic.
The two shows were initially conceptualized as companion series by The CW before Sabrina was taken over by Netflix. There have been hints of the two shows present in the same universe over the years. Greendale, Sabrina's town, was introduced in the second season of Riverdale for the first time. Since then there have been some minor crossovers between the two shows.
