The Politician Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

Politics can be a pretty dull and heavy subject, but Netflix’s The Politician is nothing but colorful and fun. The comedy-drama series created by Ryan Murphy follows a young, ambitious man, Payton, who dreams of becoming the President. People have since followed Payton’s political career, from running for student body president at St. Sebastian and later for State Senate of New York. Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, with Payton being offered a chance to run for Vice President in the next election. Can we expect season 3 to reveal Payton’s answer? Here’s what we know.

Has The Politician Been Renewed For Season 3?

Renewal Status: Pending/Not Yet Confirmed

Netflix has not officially announced season 3 yet. However, showrunner Ryan Murphy has already revealed his plans for a third season. Speaking to Collider, Murphy said he’d be very much interested in creating season three. Unfortunately, it will be the last.

“I would like to do, and I think all of us involved in it would probably like to do three seasons total,” Murphy revealed.

When Will The Politician Season 3 Release On Netflix?

As of this writing, we don’t have an official release date yet. The previous seasons also aired in different months, so it’s impossible to look at their schedule patterns for clues. Season 1 was released on September 27, 2019, while season 2 aired last month, June 19, 2020. Fans should be prepared for a long wait, as Murphy expressed that the third season might come after a long hiatus.

In the same interview, Murphy revealed: “And I think where Season 2 ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race. That would obviously be a presidential race, right? That’s always what we had designed, and I think that’s what our plan is.”

What Will Be The Plot Of The Politician Season 3?

Following Murphy’s statement, we’re expecting to see Payton in the biggest and final political race of his life. Season 2 ended with Payton (Platt) being offered to run for the Vice Presidential post in the next election. The future seems bright ahead for the young politician, who managed to secure a spot in the New York senate following a massive campaign. Before Payton was able to give his answer, credits rolled, and the audience was left hanging. Whatever the answer will be, we’re certain Payton will end up in Washington for season 3.

Who Among The Cast Members Will Return For The Politician Season 3.

Other cast members expected to return are Laura Dreyfuss as McAfee Westbrook, Rahne Jones as Skye Leighton, Theo Germaine as James Sullivan, Ryan J. Haddad as Andrew Cashman, Paltrow as Payton’s mother, Deutch as Infinity Jackson, and Lucy Boynton as Astrid Sloane.
