The Mothers of Penguins (Matki pingwinów in Poland) is coming back for a second season on Netflix. The Polish family drama first appeared on the streaming service in November 2024. It took a while to get renewed, but the confirmation was shared on the official social media on May 26th.
The series features a cast that includes Masza Wągrocka, Barbara Wypych, Magdalena Różczka, Tomasz Tyndyk, and Jan Luba. It tells the story of an MMA fighter who confronts her biggest challenge so far. However, it’s not in the ring: it’s fighting with her seven-year-old, who is going to a new school.
In a press release given to Polish media, Klara Kochańska-Bajon, the creator, writer, and director of the series, said (translated into English):
“The wide and enthusiastic reception of Penguin Moms exceeded our wildest expectations. It’s a huge motivation to work on the next chapter of this story, where the parents will face new challenges not only related to raising and watching their children grow up, but also to their own maturation and personal development. The whole team can’t wait to meet on set again and for this crazy adventure—fueled by love, the desire to build awareness, and the strengthening of the parenting community—to begin anew.”
Kuba Razowski, the Manager of Original Series at Netflix Poland, stated (again, translated into English):
“The success of Mothers of Penguins and how many viewers saw themselves in this series shows that we really need such stories. We are glad that we can continue working with the creators of the series and officially share the information about the start of work on the continuation that viewers are waiting for.”
The renewal happened on Mother’s Day in Poland, with the official account stating:
