I drew my sword after. “What? You’re going to kill me. If I killed all these people by myself you really think that you could take me. I could rip you to pieces and feed you to the corbeaux just like these people. Your blood will be on my hands and I will enjoy every second seeing you suffer.” I stepped back.
“Look at your eyes Jed,” Jordan said.
“Look at my…..” I turned to a mirror beside me and I saw my eyes pitch black. The white part of my eye was nowhere to be seen. I quickly shook my head and it came back to normal. “What did you do to me?”
“I didn’t do nothing to you. I’m Sorry Jed but I can’t let you get away with this,” Jordan said, walking up to me with his blade.
I fixed my sword behind my back like I was playing baseball, ready to swing. “Don’t come any closer.” He didn’t listen.
“Jed!!!” I heard Sara shouting for me.
Jordan stopped. Sara walked through the door of the cabin and said, “You found anything?” At that moment Jordan put his sword back in his scabbard and walked out the room.
I breathed a sigh of relief then said, “No, I didn’t find anything.”
“Well I found something,” Sara started with a smile. “It has a visitors’ book in the main building of the community and all their names there. Justin, Saraya, Megan, Melanie, Cornell and Mama Glow. They visited this village about three weeks ago.”
“Three weeks ago?”
“Yeah. But they didn’t stay long. They checked out the next day,” Sara said.
“So that means they could still be alive,” I gasped with joy.
“Yeah,” she smiled.
Sara and I walked back out to the front where the others stood waiting.
“No sign of the children,” Jinx said.
“We should head to Mas Camp now,” Jack said.
“But my friends could still be alive,” I said. “Are we going to stop looking now?”
“We can’t afford another night out here. Whoever got these people clearly still around. We have to get out of here before midnight,” Jack said.
“We could stay here for a little while. I don’t think the monster will come back here. These houses have locks and stuff we could go look for them and stay here for the night,” I said.
“No we have to get out of here. We have to get to Mas Camp,” Jack said.
“Well I’m not leaving till I find my friends,” I said. After Jordan had sized up on me with his sword it didn’t seem like a good idea to go with them.
“Suit yourself,” Jack said. “But we’re heading to Mas Camp.”
“Well, I guess this is goodbye then,” I said.
“I guess so.”
I looked at Sara who was standing next to Jinx. I wasn’t sure if she was going to come with me but I walked away from the group and back into the village anyway.
“We stick together,” Sara said, running behind me.
“Wait!!” Jack shouted. I stopped and turned around. “I can’t let Sara-Lee go with you.”
