Megan looked back at me then back at Rajiv then said, “but I thought you were dead. In the heat of the moment I just slipped. That’s all.”
Rajiv didn’t respond to her answer at all instead he took out a gun and blasted the jail cell open. He then walked up to me with the same emotionless expression on his face, staring me dead in my eye. I honestly couldn’t tell why he was coming to me for but I feared for the worst as I backed up towards the wall. I was preparing to get my head shot off but instead of killing me Rajiv gave me the gun then said, “The sewer is below here. Follow me for I will lead you there.”
“Why are you leading us to the sewer?” I asked.
“It is the only way out of this here hell,” he said.
“Ummm ok,” I said a bit confused. I looked at Megan and her paled face was also contorted with confusion.
The Bookman then came out of nowhere, through one of the walls and said, “Rajiv just as confused as you two right now. He not fully transformed yet. He genes, he thought processes and emotions all mixed up. He would of probably be real angry right now but the emotion not fully processed.” He passed his clawed hands all over Rajiv’s face. Rajiv remained still and emotionless as the Bookman touched up his face. “Very soon he will be like one of we. He will become a slave to the costume.”
“What did they do to him?” Megan asked.
“They turn him to a Negue Jadin,” the Bookman said. “The process does take a couple days to complete. But for all that allyuh know, Rajiv is dead.” He then showed us the words written in his book and the very last name written was Rajiv Balgobin. “He name in my book. So it have no coming back for Rajiv.”
“But….” I started.
“Don’t ask me no more questions,” the Bookman said. He then took out a flash drive and handed it to us and continued. “Everything allyuh need to know on this flash drive. I steal it from the Midnight Robber so don’t let him know that I give allyuh it.”
“Why are you helping us?” I asked the Bookman.
“I didn’t just tell allyuh don’t ask me no more questions?” The Bookman said. “Jadin! Lead these two to the sewers.” He then gave us two food pills and told us to swallow it for energy. As soon as it went down my throat I felt a sudden burst of electric energy running through my veins and my irises exploded in size. I don’t know what kind of magic pill he gave us but it put me right back on my feet. It wasn’t even a gradual spike in energy. It was instant. It was like a shot of expresso on steroids.
Rajiv then led the way.
We arrived at the sewers and the smell was almost unbearable. I held my nose and so did Megan but Rajiv seemed to be unfazed by the smell. In the sewer where the water was, a motor boat was nestled there tied to a pole that protruded out of the sewer water.
“Take the boat, drive off and do not dare look back. For what is behind will only blind you from what is ahead,” Rajiv said.
We started off towards the motor boat but Megan ran back and gave Rajiv a big hug and wished him good luck. We entered into the boat and before we left Rajiv said, “Tell my mother that my love burns forever for her.” The emotion in his voice was actually clearly heard when he said it. His transformation was coming along so it may have been wise for us to get out as soon as possible.
“Will do,” Megan said.
Without any more delay, I started the engine then we drove off.
