The Midnight Club has been the most anticipated series from Netflix and this September Netflix finally shared images and the full-length trailer for the series.

In another collaboration with Mike Flanagan, Netflix is all set to drop another masterpiece (maybe). Flanagan and Leah Fong are the creators of this Netflix series, which is based on the Christopher Pike novel of the same name. Flanagan is also known for horror movies such as Oculus, Hush, Before I Wake, and the film adaptations of the Stephen King stories, Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep.

The Midnight Club trailer:

Get your first official look at the series with the official trailer! An ominous version of “Possum Kingdom” by Toadies plays in the background as we meet the cast and get a peek at how they’ll be terrorized over the course of ten episodes.

What is The Midnight Club about?

The Midnight Club bears a striking resemblance to the 90s Nickelodeon show, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, which had a group of kids who called themselves “The Midnight Society”. However, The Midnight Club has a much darker premise.

Here’s the show’s synopsis, according to Variety:

"Based on the Christopher Pike novel of the same name, the 10-episode show follows a group of seven teenagers at a hospice for terminally ill young adults known as the Rotterdam Home. The group, who dub themselves the “Midnight Club” due to their favorite activity of sharing scary stories at midnight, make a pact that the first one of them to go will be responsible with communicating with the rest of the group from beyond the grave. Of course, it isn’t difficult to figure out what happens next. When one of the group does indeed pass away, strange occurrences begin in the Rotterdam Home."

Here’s the official logline:

"At a hospice with a mysterious history, the eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories – and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond. A new horror series from Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy’s Intrepid Pictures (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass), and Leah Fong, based on the creative work of bestselling author Christopher Pike."

The Midnight Club release date?

Most of Flanagan’s series in the past have arrived around September/October time to headline Netflix’s Halloween slate. The Midnight Club also follows this trend.

At Netflix’s Geeked Week we got confirmation that the series will be debuting on October 7th, 2022.

The Midnight Club cast:

Flanagan tends to bring back some of the same actors from other projects. (Not unlike Ryan Murphy and American Horror Story.) In this case, those fans will recognize Midnight Mass’ Igby Rigney and Annarah Shephard among the club members. Netflix fans will also know Aya Furukawa, who played Janine in The Baby-Sitter’s Club, and William Chris Sumpter, who was in Starz’s superhero series Power. Several are also from Flanagan’s upcoming The Fall of the House of Usher, including Ruth Codd and Sauriyan Sapkota. Newcomer Adia rounds out the group. Zach Gilford, Matt Biedel (both from Midnight Mass), and Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting of Hill House) co-star.
