The ex-MMA fighter played Cara Dune in Disney Plus' hit 'Star Wars' TV series.
Gina Carano reportedly shared a post on social media implying that being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As a result, she has been fired and will not be coming back to Disney+'s immensely popular show The Mandalorian. The ex-MMA fighter played former Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune in the hit Star Wars TV series. "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. "Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable." Carano has yet to comment on her firing.
FINALLY. #FireGinaCarano

It was her post where she likened political divisiveness to the Holocaust that was the final straw.https://t.co/Cdmc57aRtT
A spokesperson for United Talent Agency also confirmed that Carano has been dropped as a client. It seems this is not the first time Carano has stirred up controversy. Last year she put out a tweet where she mocked mask-wearing and another time she falsely suggested voter fraud occurred during the 2020 presidential elections. “They have been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw,” a source revealed to the outlet. While she's been appreciated for the "calm strength" she's brought to her role in the show, her political comments are another matter. On Wednesday, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano was trending after the conservative actress posted the controversial Instagram post.
did she just compare the holocaust to being a republican .. #FireGinaCarano pic.twitter.com/an3css7Kdr

Twitter users were quick to point out how starkly different Carano is from her character Cara Dune. zenskywaIker noted: that moment when a transphobic, antisemitic, police bootlicker, covid denier and trump supporter plays a character who fought her whole life against oppression and tyranny. lucasfilm should be ashamed. fire her. #FireGinaCarano. she totally goes against the purpose of cara dune. star wars shouldn’t be associated with people like this. she literally spreads hate speeches. it’s time we put an end to this.
Daniel_Penrod11 pointed out: I’m not defending any of her actions or saying I believe in the same things as her, but this is an extremely bizarre angle to take. Christian Bale has never been out in the streets dressed up in a costume fighting justice with his bare hands. They’re actors...they act.
Woah, Gina this is extremely irresponsible. If you are referring to the election, there is no proof of any fraud. If you at referring to mask wearing, we should be doing that and if we all did it we would be able to go outside sooner.

But many believe her political rhetoric has been quite unsavory for a while now. DinsDarksaber tweeted: She's transphobic, anti-mask, alt-right who parrots QAn*n conspiracies, doesn't believe in systematic racism, and now shares anti-semitic images. RICHARDLNEWBY spoke highly of Pedro Pascal who stars on the show. They wrote: One day we get a beautiful story about Pedro Pascal and his goodness and support for inclusivity, and the next we’re reminded that Gina Carano has a lizard brain and should not be trusted around human beings. #FireGinaCarano
