The Mandalorian has swiftly become one of the most popular shows on TV since its 2019 debut. The show has even gone on to win a number of Emmys too. It looks like fans are getting a third season! The Mandalorian season 3 has a current shooting date of April 5, 2021, and is set to film in Los Angeles, according to The Film & Television Industry Alliance website. Season 2 has created quite a bit of buzz for what's coming up for both the core show and its spinoff The Book of Boba Fet. According to CBR, series creator Jon Favreau had previously said that filming for the third season would start after production was completed for the spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett, so this left fans worried about what that meant for The Mandalorian season 3.

"This is actually separate from The Mandalorian season 3," Favreau told Good Morning America. "But what we didn't say in that announcement is that the next show coming up, Kathleen [Kennedy] said 'the next chapter,' and that's going to be The Book of Boba Fett — and then we go into production right after that on Season 3 of The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all have known and loved." So fans needn't worry. According to Comic Book, The Mandalorian season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett are both scheduled to launch on Disney+ sometime in 2021. But it's also possible that the release date could shift forward or backward slightly. The Mandalorian Season 3 could be aiming for a release date of early 2022.

The show stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, and Giancarlo Esposito where both seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+. Along with The Book of Boba Fett, Favreau and Dave Filoni will also serve as executive producers on the upcoming series Star Wars: Ahsoka and Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, which are expected to cross over with Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Also, it looks like the Breaking Bad alumnus Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon will play some sort of major part in the upcoming season, based on Esposito's recent comments. The actor himself has now confirmed the character will return in the show's third season.

"I have a feeling you'll see more of me next season," Esposito told EW. "More than likely you're going to see a lot of Moff Gideon. I can't be sure of that, but it seems as though this iconic journey that they want you to feel it." Esposito added, "I think you're going to start to see other storylines start to creep in. When we start to realize there's such a deep connection [between the show's storylines and] the rest of the galaxy and what's really happening. Maybe you'll get an inkling of what he wants."
