Star War fans were appalled when they heard about Gina Carano's controversial statements on social media. We had earlier reported 'The Mandalorian' star had implied that being a Republican was like being Jewish during the Holocaust. The ex-MMA fighter who is known for playing Cara Dune was subsequently fired by Lucasfilm who called her statement 'abhorrent and unacceptable'. Around that time, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano was also trending on social media and it was clear that the conservative actress would be facing the brunt of her actions.

A studio representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Just days after her firing, fans were left wondering who'd play the role, and most opined that her perfect replacement would be Lucy Lawless. Most of us love the character of Cara Dune and want to see her journey continue instead of being written out of the show. While there is no official confirmation from the studio over Carano's replacement, fans think Lawless would do justice to the role, as many of us grew up watching her scintillating performances in Xena: Warrior Princess.
Meanwhile, Carano is no stranger to controversies. She faced severe backlash for mocking those who wore masks during the pandemic and also allegedly hinted at voter fraud during the 2020 presidential elections. Following this, the 38-year-old star teamed up with political commentator Ben Shapiro, the founder of The Daily Wire. She has now signed a new movie which will be released only for the Daily Wire members. Carano told Deadline, “The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
Shapiro also released a statement, as per Deadline: “We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left. This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob.”

Now back to Lawless, fans have been campaigning for her to be cast as Cara Dune in the third season of 'The Mandalorian'. One Twitter user said: "Hear me out, Casting Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune would sell SOOO many action figures. I'm just saying. She'd bring in a lot of banks." Meanwhile, another added: "Can we just swap out Carano for Lucy Lawless and never address it the way Marvel did with Howard and Cheadle?".

I keep hearing people saying they want Lucy Lawless to play Cara Dune going forward but I don't think that's a good idea because my fanboy heart might explode with joy.— Andrew Kaye (@andrewkaye) February 11, 2021
