The Lion King Could Rival Avengers: Endgame To Become The Highest Grossing Movie Ever!

The Lion King is the only movie this year with enough behind it to be able to surpass Avengers: Endgame, according to analysts.

Avengers: Endgame is now the undisputed king of the box office. And even though it has yet to surpass Avatar we can all suspect that it is only a matter of time now. By next weekend, I'm 99.99% certain that Endgame will become number 1. But, the question is, how long will they stay at number 1?

Well, with massive Disney films such as Aladdin, The Lion King and Frozen 2 all set to hit theaters this year, many experts are predicting that at least one of them will rival Endgame. The one among the 3 that is most likely to do it is The Lion King

Exhibitor Relation Co.’s senior analyst Jeff Bock said in an interview with ComicBook.com that The Lion King could surpass Endgame.

The only thing that might even touch it [Avengers: Endgame] in terms of the worldwide box office, might be The Lion King, just because that is the crown jewel that the Disney animation has in their vault.

This actually does seem possible given the nostalgia-punch that comes from the Lion King movie. I think we can go as far as to say that almost every single American has seen or been made aware of the 1994 animation, even the ones who weren't born back then. It was a powerful movie and this new live-action adaptation is expected to make a lot of money in the box office this year. Will it be able to challenge the top 3 highest grossing movies in the world by surpassing $2 billion. Well, it's going to be a stretch, in my opinion. The hype for Endgame was really high and the hype for Lion King can't even compare right now.

Bock went on to say:

We've seen how powerful it was back in the day, with John Favreau directing, there's no doubt it could compete worldwide with Avengers: Endgame.

But there is still a lot of time for Disney to build the hype around Lion King as it roars into theaters July 19th.
