'The Letter For The King' Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Tiuri and his friends may have successfully delivered a noble task, but a looming nemesis is determined to get revenge. Can we expect the medieval saga to continue?

Netflix

In Spring 2020, Netflix dropped another lavish adventure series, The Letter for The King, for the binge-watching community. Netflix managed to give a Game of Thrones-ish vibes to the coming-of-age adventure series loosely based on the 1962 classic Dutch novel De brief Voor de Koning by Tonke Dragt. The first season launched with only six episodes, and fans, especially those who devoured the show in six hours or less, wonder if a follow-up season can be expected soon. Here's what we know so far.

Has 'The Letter For The King' Been Renewed For Season 2?

As of this update, Netflix has yet to renew The Letter for The King for season 2. Season 1 premiered on Netflix on March 20, 2020. The streaming giant often takes at least a month before renewing a show. However, it has been awfully long since the series premiered, and we still do not have any news regarding season 2. In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy in March 2021, Graham said they haven't heard from Netflix at all.

"We haven't heard a yes or a no," she said regarding a potential season 2, adding:

"I suppose that's good, that it's not been an outright no, and I think all of us would go back – I mean, who doesn't want to go back, and ride horses, and play with swords?

"I think that would be a lot of fun, and there's a lot to explore in that world as well."

The show is undoubtedly garnering significant attention on social media, and we hoped that the medieval adventure series might just get renewed. However, with the renewal still pending, it's impossible to tell when season 2 is finally coming.

What Can We Expect To Happen In 'The Letter For The King' Season 2?

Warning: The next paragraph may contain season 1 spoilers.

The first season left a great possible jump-off point for season 2. Tiuri successfully delivered the letter to King Unauwen. Lavinia defeated Prince Viridian. By the end of the first season, Tiuri and his team were turned into fully pledged knights upon their return to Dagonaut. Towards the end of the ceremony, a flock of Starlings flew overhead, revealing Prince Viridian's face. This suggests that the evil Prince is not yet done with the young knights. Vengeance is brooding ahead, and we can expect to see more of this if the show ever gets renewed. Fans are also disappointed with Tiuri's lack of magical powers in the first season. However, there are already speculations that Tiuri (with his Eviellan blood) has dormant powers that may awake in the next season. With Lavinia turning out to be the prophecized hero, we expect to see how Tiuri's character would help Lavinia face the ruthless Prince in the future. The showrunners will also likely get inspiration from the Dutch novel's sequel: The Secrets of the Wild Wood. Albeit, it's worth noting that Netflix has changed a couple of significant events from the book to the onscreen series.

Who Among The Cast Is Likely Returning For 'The Letter for The King' Season 2?

We're expecting to see Amir Wilson return as Tiuri and Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Lavinia. Tiuri's whole crew is also likely to come back with Islam Bouakkaz as Arman, Jack Barton as Foldo, and Nathanael Saleh as Piak. Gijs Blom is also likely to return for revenge as Prince Viridian. Thaddea Graham is foreseen to return as Iona. She is expected to cause chaos for Tiuri and his band in the next season following her alliance with Red Rider Jaro (Peter Ferdinando).
