Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, or The Irregular at Magic High School, is a Japanese anime series. It is set in an alternate world where magic exists and is polished through technology. The story follows Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, siblings of the infamous Yotsuba clan, who enroll in First High Magic High School. The school's segregation system separates the siblings, with Tatsuya being shunned for his ineptness at magic and Miyuki being validated for her exceptional abilities.
It is based on the web novel series by Tsutomu Satō, which was adapted into a manga as well as an anime show. There are currently two seasons of the anime.
Irregular at Magic High School has been renewed for season 3. The new season will air in 2024. Aniplex also released a teaser trailer.
The anime has been renewed for a third season. "We have decided to produce a sequel to the anime The Irregular at Magic High School," the official website of the anime stated. "Details will be announced on the official website, official Twitter, etc., so please wait for the follow-up report!" The announcement came on the first day of 2023, following the announcement of the anime adaptation of Reminiscence Arc.
On July 15, 2023, 8bit Studio revealed a trailer video for the third season of the popular anime series. This teaser was made available by Aniplex and was featured on the official website of "The Irregular At Magic High School," along with an announcement that the series is set to air in 2024.
The third season will reportedly delve into the light novel series’ Double Seven story arc. While following Tatsuya and Miyuki into their second year, the story also features a student named Takumi Shippou. Takumi holds a grudge against the twins, Kasumi and Izumi Saegusa, causing conflict throughout the story. Meanwhile, First High becomes the target of Zhou Gongjin and the Saegusa clan when they team up to have the media denounce the magicians of Japan. Tatsuya has a lot to juggle in the season, whether it's tackling Takumi's arrogance, saving First High, or dealing with another attack lurking in their midst.
The third season will include the siblings, Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, voiced by Yuichi Nakamura and Saori Hayami. Tatsuya's friends Erika Chiba, Leo Saijo, Mizuki Shibata, Mikihiko Yoshida, Honoka Mitsui, Shizuku Kitayama, and Minami Sakurai could also be a part of the third season. Other characters, including Takumi Shippou, Kasumi and Izumi Saegusa, Zhou Gongjin, and members of the Saegusa clan, will also be in the new season.
