'The Haunting' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

Here's what happened in 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' and whether 'The Haunting' series will return for season 3.

This article was recently reviewed and is up to date as of January 9, 2021.

The Haunting is one of the most popular horror series around the globe.

The Netflix series created by Mike Flanagan has excellently combined horror and drama, which effectively engages the audience.

There are no cheap jump scares, only well-written intricate plots, leaving viewers in deep sorrow and longing.

The most recent and second installment in The Haunting series, The Haunting of Bly Manor, dropped on the streaming platform October 9, 2020. It follows a young American teacher who works as an in-house tutor for two lovely children in Bly Manor. She later finds out that the splendid Manor holds dark, unfathomable secrets that will forever change her life.

Unsurprisingly, the show instantly skyrocketed to Netflix's Top titles proving its popularity.

Let's find out what's next for the series.

Will There Be 'The Haunting' Season 3?

We are confident that the show will be renewed for season 3.

On its first week on Netflix, The Haunting of Bly Manor managed to sit in the number one spot in the US and multiple regions worldwide.

We all know how Netflix values viewership records when it comes to deciding whether to renew a show or not. It's just a matter of time before Netflix drops the renewal announcement.

When Will 'The Haunting' Season 3 Release On Netflix?

We've already mentioned how confident we are about getting another season for The Haunting series. Unfortunately, we are also anticipating possible long delays before we could see The Haunting Season 3.

The first installment, The Haunting of Hill House, premiered on Netflix on October 12, 2018. Despite its popularity, it took four months (February 2019) before Netflix renewed the series.

Despite taking four months before securing a renewal, the second installment, The Haunting of Bly Manor, managed to release on the same month the following year, on October 9, 2020.

Aside from how soon the show gets renewed, season 3's release date would also be affected by another factor: the level of involvement of creator Mike Flanagan will have on the series.

Flanagan directed every episode of Hill House but only directed the series opener for Bly Manor.

Flanagan's schedule is currently full. He's busy working on two upcoming Netflix horror series: Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club. With his jam-packed schedule, it would certainly take longer before they could squeeze in The Haunting season 3 production into his calendar.

But as they surprised us with the second installment two years following the first season, can they surprise us with a third in October 2022?

What Happened In 'The Haunting of Bly Manor?' Ending Explained

Dani’s sacrifice broke the curse that Viola Willoughby had placed on Bly Manor. After allowing Viola to inhabit her body, all of the ghostly residents of Bly Manor, including Peter, Rebecca, and Hannah, were finally allowed to pass on.

The survivors of Bly Manor tried their best to move on with their lives. Owen opened a restaurant to honor Hannah’s memory, while Lord Henry moved to America with Miles and Flora. When the three survivors reunited at Owen's restaurant, it was revealed that Flora and Miles do not remember what happened in the Bly Manor.

Despite Viola inhabiting her body, Dani managed to spend happy years with Jaime. The couple also moved to America and ran their flower shop. However, as the years went by, Dani started losing control of herself. She woke up one night with her hand around Jaime's neck.

Afraid that she would hurt the woman she truly loves, she decided to run away, leaving Jaime desperately searching for her.

Jaime's search led her back to Bly Manor, at the bottom of the lake. There she saw the tragic fate that awaits Dani.

Dani has now taken the place of Viola as the new Lady of The Lake. She asked for Dani to take her soul too, so that she may be with her forever. However, unlike Viola, Dani would never claim a single soul. Dani's doomed to suffer the same fate as Viola, she's bound to forget herself and her beloved memories.

Before the show concluded, we found out that the narrator of the story was an older Jaimie, and the bride of the wedding she's attending is now a 30-year-old Flora.

We also found out that the guests were the older versions of Owen, Miles, and Henry.

Jaime returned to her hotel room and left her door slightly open. She fills the bath and sink with water, hoping for Dani to emerge and find her.

Finding no signs that the love of her life is there, Jaime rested in a chair and closed her eyes.

Finally, after long years of waiting, we see Dani's hand resting on Jaime's shoulder. This means that Dani still remembers and loves Jaime, proving love has transcended beyond Viola's curse.
