Ryan Gosling as Court Gentry joins Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen, his adversary in this thriller, directed by the Russo Brothers.
The Gray Man is an action thriller film that is being developed for Netflix. It is based on the novel of the same name written by Mark Greaney, published in 2009. With a screenplay co-written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film is directed by the Russo brothers, best known for directing four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film has already been making waves for its high-profile cast and crew as well as for its expensive budget. With a production budget of about $200 million, it is the most expensive film ever made by Netflix so far. This marks the commencement of The Gray Man franchise, which already has ten books published, with another on the way next year.
Here's everything you need to know about it.
The action film follows a veteran CIA operative, Court Gentry, who is betrayed by his own agency. This forces him to become a fugitive. Lloyd Hansen, a former colleague at the agency, is sent to hunt down Gentry. There are high stakes, billion-dollar deals, betrayal, and lots of action that ensues.

"The movie is a real mano, a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do," Anthony Russo told Deadline." "For those who were fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this is us moving into that territory in more of a real-world setting. That's what this movie really means for us."
The cast is star-studded and includes Ryan Gosling as Court Gentry, also known as Sierra Six, Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen, Ana de Armas as Dani Miranda, Billy Bob Thornton as Donald FitzroyGentry'ss handler, Julia Butters as Claire Fitzroy, Alfre Woodard as Maurice Cahill, Eme Ikwuakor as Mr. Felix, and Robert Kazinsky as Perini. It also includes other actors whose roles in the film have not been confirmed yet. This includes Indian actor Dhanush, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Callan Mulvey, and Sam Lerner.
The Russo brothers are producing the film through their company AGBO along with Mike Larocca." "The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it," Joe Russo stated." We have all committed to the first movie, and that's got to be great to get us to the second movie."
The shoot of the film was supposed to start in January 2021 but was pushed to March. Filming took place in Europe, including locations in Prague, Czech Republic, and the Château de Chantilly in France. The film shoot wrapped up in July.
It will probably see a spring 2022 release.
