The Final Trailer For ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Just Dropped

The final trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is here and it's action-packed!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is getting closer and closer to its release date of April 8th, 2022. It's a highly anticipated sequel and may even crush the box office numbers of the first one. This is especially possible given that the first film was released in a very uncertain time in history.

People now seem more inclined to go to the theaters. Just looking at the box office numbers for The Batman is proof of that.

Today, the final trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released and we get to see a lot more of the newest characters Knuckles and Tails. The trailer also shows the return of our favorite Sonic villain, Robotnik, with Jim Carrey reprising his role.

In the trailer we see Robotnik examining one of the Chaos Emeralds, which he describes as “the source of ultimate power.”

With the Chaos Emeralds playing a huge part in the film we can expect to see Sonic’s Chaos Emerald-powered form “Super Sonic.” In this form Sonic becomes lightning-yellow and he becomes invincible and even faster.

Director Jeff Fowler spoke about Sonic's "Super Sonic" form saying that it didn't make sense to include it in the first film. The second film, however, plays directly in favor of Sonic's "Super Sonic" form. It would be a huge surprise if we don't see it in the upcoming film.

The plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 reads:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

The film stars Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 speeds into theaters on April 8th, 2022.
