The Fifth Purge Movie Finally Gets An Official Release Date

A fifth Purge movie is officially in the works over at Universal Studios and all the fans are rejoicing.

The fifth Purge movie is currently in the works and Universal has announced that it will hit theaters on 10 July 2020. We currently don't know the plot or the title of the movie but we do know that James DeMonaco, the writer and director of the first four movies will be back to helm the fifth film.

DeMonaco discussed the fifth film with Entertainment Weekly last year. He said:

I have it in my head. I think I'm going to write it. I think it's a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I'm very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.

This is good news for fans of the franchise as it shows that Universal is still willing to pump money into it. And with a gross of over $456million, it's no surprise either. The people are still into it.

The first film was released in 2013 and a year later, The Purge: Anarchy was released. The in 2016 there was The Purge: Election Year and in 2018 a prequel called The First Purge was released. A Purge TV show was also released last year and due to its huge success, it has been renewed for a second season.

The renewal was swift as it was announced very soon after the season 1 finale. Jason Blum, the executive producer, shared the news saying:

"James DeMonaco has done it again: the propulsive and compelling story he created for season one of The Purge truly resonated with audiences in a significant way. We are thrilled to embark on season two and can't wait to bring more of James' vision to USA and fans of The Purge."

We will keep you up to date on the upcoming movie and the second season.
