The fashion industry is aflutter as The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in production. Here’s everything we know so far.
When Will The Devil Wears Prada 2 Be Released?
The long-rumored sequel has been confirmed, over twenty years after the first movie became a cultural landmark. The film, which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, promises to re-enter the high-stakes, high-fashion world of Miranda Priestly, the ultimate boss from hell who became a legend in her field.
The Devil Wears Prada 2: What Is It About?
The sequel will follow Meryl Streep’s renowned character Miranda Priestly as she struggles with the swift demise of traditional print journalism, Variety writes in its early reports. Miranda finds herself at conflict with Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who is now a major player at a luxury fashion business that Miranda urgently needs to woo, as a result of the changing media landscape and declining ad revenue.
According to reports, the plot would resemble parts of Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 sequel, Revenge Wears Prada, which puts well-known characters back in new roles of authority—and conflict.
Is the Original Cast Of The Devil Wears Prada Coming Back?
According to industry insiders, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all in talks to return, even though no formal casting confirmations have been made public. Stanley Tucci, who played fan-favourite Nigel, said in an interview, “If it does happen, I can only say that I’ll be happy… That experience was one of the greatest I’ve ever had.”
Anne Hathaway has been less sure, but she has said she would be open to the idea in the right situation. “I wouldn’t hold out too much hope,” she told Extra in 2024, but added, “They could relaunch it. Do you think they’d let us do that?”
Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna and original producer Wendy Finerman are confirmed to return, so fans can anticipate the same creative spirit. In order to maintain the scathing tone and aesthetic that audiences adored in the 2006 movie, talks are also in progress to bring back director David Frankel.
