'The Devil Is A Part-Timer!' Is Retuning For Season 2 After 8 Years

The first season of the popular anime series aired back in April 2013.

The Devil is a Part-Timer! is getting a second TV anime season. The first season aired from April 4, 2013, to June 27, 2013, running for a single 13-episode season. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a second season since. It's been 10 years since the light novel first came out, written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by 029. The anime adaptation of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! was produced by White Fox and directed by Naoto Hosoda. The show's second season is being released in celebration of the light novel's 10th anniversary, reports Crunchyroll.

Here's a quick refresher of what the first season was about. Funimation streams the first season on its service, describing it as follows: Foiled by a hero when he’s inches away from conquering the world, the devil finds himself in modern-day Tokyo. With no real-world skills to speak of, the devil is forced to make ends meet flipping burgers at a fast-food joint! To stall any further plans of world domination, the hero tracks the devil’s trail and takes on the lowly tasks of a telemarketer. In a more elaborate explanation, according to CBR, "The series follows Demon Lord Satan, who aims to conquer the world of Ente Isla by annexing its four continents. Standing in his way is the hero Emilia, who kills two of Satan's demon generals, forcing him and one of his other generals, Alciel, to flee Ente Isla, at which point they find themselves in modern-day Tokyo. In order to survive, a de-powered Satan (under the alias Sadao Maou) gets a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant called MgRonald's -- and quickly becomes a model employee."

The animation crew for the newly-announced season is yet to be announced but there is clearly a difference in art style between the two seasons. As for the voice actors, the original cast will be back! But no plot details or release date has been confirmed right now. We're not sure if the original English cast will be returning as well. Who will be reprising their roles? Ryota Ohsaka as the Demon King Satan, Yoko Hikasa as the Heroine Emilia, Nao Toyama as Chiho Sasaki, Yuki Ono as the Demon General Alciel, Hiro Shimono as the Demon General Lucifer, and Kanae Ito as Suzuno Kamazuki. For now, all we know is that yes, The Devil Is a Part-Timer Season 2 is coming! The news was confirmed at the Kadokawa Corporation's Light Novel Expo with the first trailer. If you want to catch up before the new season arrives, you can watch The Devil is a Part Timer! on Netflix (until March 31st).
