The Cast Of 'Better Call Saul' Make Their Case For Spin-Offs Based On Their Characters

The final season of the hit show is set to premiere on April 18 and promises to be "a satisfying season."

Breaking Bad is considered by many to be one of the best TV shows ever made. If you ever thought there is no way to outdo this show, Better Call Saul would beg to differ.

We met Saul Goodman as the attorney who took on Walter White's case when the overqualified, and underpaid high-school chemistry teacher struggling with a recent diagnosis of stage-three lung cancer turns to a life of crime to secure his family's financial future before he dies.

The show ran for five seasons, concluding in 2013. Better Call Saul then came in as a worthy successor to its already legendary precursor. The show has five seasons so far and is coming back for one final season today, April 18.

Even before the final season can start airing, fans are already being teased with possible spin-offs in the future.

Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould spoke to Variety about the future of the franchise while also teasing the much-anticipated series finale of Better Call Saul. Gilligan stated that the final season is "f****** amazing." Patrick Fabian, who plays Howard Hamlin stated: “It’s a satisfying season. All the setups that they put up the mountain start careening down the mountain.” But the cast also shared the characters whose stories they would like to see more of.

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gustavo Fring on the show said of his character, "I do think there’s more life in Gus. Maybe not this year, maybe not next year. But there’s something that we all are intrigued by and we want to find out about. Even me." He believes there are more sides to Gus than just the drug dealing wolf in a restaurateur's sheep clothes. He went on to explain his case for a Gus spin-off by saying: "In Breaking Bad, I wanted Gus to have a family… I wanted people to know that Gus has a family. That’s in my mind — you never saw that you don’t know that. But he really was a wonderful family man… hiding in plain sight. I love that concept. You don’t know who lives next door to you. You don’t know what this guy does."

Jonathan Banks who plays Mike Ehrmantraut also has many questions about the character he plays. “I still wanna know who the mother was to [Mike’s] son," he stated. "Who was she? Where is she? What has happened to her?” Fabian has also been dreaming of a spin-off for his own character. “Kim and Hamlin run away to the Caribbean and they open up a pro bono lawyer workshop where they sail from island to island," he said. "Good vistas… maybe Discovery is looking for this? There may be some suntan oil and some bikinis involved. Sounds like good TV to me.”

Hopefully, Gilligan and Gould are taking notes to give the people what they want!
