The official trailer for the third season just dropped that has established now that, "There’s something wrong with Homelander." In the trailer we see Homelander repeat the same thing in several interviews: "I may be a superhero, but I'm just a man that fell in love with the wrong woman. But out of crisis comes change . . . I'm really slowing down and reconnecting with myself, and I'm very excited for everyone to meet the real me." We also see Billy Butcher's progress following Hugh Campbell's orders and the turn of events that turn gory and spring The Boys into action.

As to what we can expect from this season, the official description states: "It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into The Seven, starting a war and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy." The series follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities. The first season premiered in 2019 followed by the second in 2020. It was renewed for a third season which is set to premiere later this year, on June 3, 2022. The first trailer for the new season dropped in March and caused quite the stir for being unhinged. "I'm very biased obviously, but it's a season that's even more messed up than the ones we've done so far," Jack Quaid who plays Hugh stated. "There's a lot of those signature messed up Boys' moments. I think we tackle a lot of new territories."

Showrunner Eric Kripke teased, " “It’s not just the craziest thing we’ve done, I think it’s the craziest thing anybody has ever done,” in reference to only the first 10 minutes of the new season.  “I promise you have never seen anything like it in the history of cinema,” Karl Urban who plays Billy Butcher said as well. “We went bigger this season. It’s a fun, intense roller-coaster ride.” This season we will also be meeting Jensen Ackles as Solider Boy.
