Will Stoneybrook’s most adept middle schoolers return! Here are all the latest updates.
The Baby-Sitters Club on Netflix is a relatable show filled with heartwarming stories and coming-of-age plotlines. Kristy (Sophie Grace), Claudia (Momona Tamada), Mary Anne (Malia Baker), Stacey (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn (Kyndra Sanchez) face challenges that test their friendships and expand their group as they navigate their eighth-grade year. Based on Ann M. Martin's popular books, there is plenty of material for additional seasons. So, will there be a season 3? Let's find out.
The Baby-Sitters Club has been officially canceled. The news came on Friday, March 11. According to Deadline, the series was canceled because its performance wasn't good enough.
While developing a fan following, the series have not been able to attract a wide audience; the eight-episode Season 2, released on October 11, failed to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 weekly streaming rankings and only appeared in the Netflix Top 10 for one week at #9.
It's uncertain what the plot of season 3 would have been since the show has been canceled. The show was based on a series of 213 novels that served as a helpful blueprint for the show's creators. According to Rachel Shukert, the showrunner of The Baby-Sitters Club, the first eight to ten books established the world and the club. The relationships between the characters were cemented, along with the bigger stories regarding their parents and how they impacted the club. Shukert mentioned that the show was modernized to cater to a contemporary audience. The characters babysit for kids who have two moms, Dawn's dad is gay, and the show presents various sexualities in a matter-of-fact manner. Future plotlines may have additional modern angles when compared to the books.
The main and supporting cast would have likely returned for season 3 if it was renewed.
