With the show's popularity and positive reception from anime critics, the renewal is no longer surprising. Nevertheless, an official confirmation is always worth celebrating.

Meanwhile, the ongoing manga series that the anime is based on released its 16th volume back in November and continues to become more popular.

With available source material and an active fan base, the future's bright for the anime series.

Fans don't have to wait for long anymore.

'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime' will release on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, on Crunchyroll.

Season 2 was supposed to release in October 2020, but then the pandemic got into the way, causing delays.

Thankfully, Rimuru Tempest is coming back in early 2021 for a  split-cour season. The remaining second half is currently scheduled to premiere in July 2021.

On the other hand, we have another slime content to look forward to this year! A spin-off anime to the original show is also releasing in April-2021.

'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime' Season 2 Plot: What Is It About? 

'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime' is based on the light novel series written by Fuse.

Season 1 introduced us to Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old corporate worker living a monotonous life in Tokyo.

He died after getting stabbed and reincarnated as a slime in a different world. He befriends a Catastrophe-level 'Storm Dragon who gave him his new name, Rimuru Tempest.

The two embarked on different adventures together, defeating monsters as Rimuru slowly transforms into his ultimate slime form. Gone are the boring days since Rimuru's reincarnation. Rimuru's weird accomplishments spread across the world like wildfire and have attracted the attention of new enemies that are determined to bring him down.

Thanks to the official season 2 trailer, we now have an idea what the upcoming season will be all about.

Brace yourselves as Rimuru is set to engage in bigger battles in the upcoming season. The game is just about to begin.

'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime' Season 2 Characters: Who Are Coming Back? 

Rimuru Tempest, the series' main character, is definitely coming back, with voice actor Miho Okasak bringing our favorite slime to life.

Other supporting characters we are expecting to see are Nava, Milim (voiced by Hidaka, Rina), Shion (voiced by Ichimichi, Mao), Tempest, Veldora (voiced by Maeno, Tomoaki), Shuna (voiced by Senbongi, Sayaka), and Diablo (voiced by Sakurai, Takahiro) among others.

Souei, Ranga, Benimaru, and Gobuta are also expected to appear in season 2.
