Terry Crews' new film "John Henry" was absolutely shat on by critics but it still managed to wiggle its way to the top spot on Netflix's top 10 movies list.
Terry Crews is among the funniest men in Hollywood but we rarely ever really get to see him in a lead role. He can easily be described as one of the most successful supporting actors of our generation. However, the new movie "John Henry" takes the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and puts him in the front and center.
"John Henry" was first given a limited release on January 24th before making its way to the world's most popular streaming platform Netflix. And now subscribers are loving it, taking the film up into the platform's top 10 list.
The film follows ex-gang member, John Henry who traded his former life of crime for a quiet suburban lifestyle. However, when two immigrant kids find themselves on the run from his former boss, John must reconcile with his past in order to try and give them a future. The film was directed by Will Forbes and stars Terry Crews, Ludacris, Jamila Velazquez, Ken Foree, Tyler Alvarez, and Joseph Julian Soria.
The film, despite having a solid cast and plot, was absolutely trashed by critics. The film holds a Metacritic rating of 27 out of 100 and an IMDB score of 3.5/10.
However, the film still managed to work its way to the #1 spot in the most viewed movie list on Netflix and #3 in general. Dead to Me season 2 stands at #1 and teen drama Outer Banks stands at #2.
Have you seen John Henry yet? Were the critics right for trashing it? Or was it an enjoyable film?
