Terra Field And Two Others Reinstated at Netflix

Netflix reinstated trans employee Terra Field and two others after the company found "no ill-intent" in their attendance in the quarterly business meeting following the Dave Chappelle controversy.

Netflix's senior software engineer Terra Field and two other employees got reinstated after being suspended for crashing the quarterly business review without an invite.

Terra Field, a trans employee who serves as a senior software engineer at the company, reportedly barged into the meeting after speaking out on Twitter about Dave Chappelle's stand-up comedy special, 'The Closer'. She and two others got suspended afterward.

Field posted on Twitter Tuesday night that “Netflix has reinstated me after finding that there was no ill-intent in my attending the QBR meeting… At the very least, I feel vindicated.”

She also shared a screenshot of an email statement that appeared to be from a Netflix official.

The email says:

“Our investigation did not find that you joined the QBR meeting with any ill intent and that you genuinely didn’t think there was anything wrong with seeking access to this meeting. Additionally, when a director shared the link it further supported that this was a meeting that you could attend.”

The spokesperson on Netflix told Deadline that Field and two other employees had been welcomed back and the company “will be distributing broader guidance about meetings and clarifying which are for which people.”

Netflix already verified that the suspension was not due to Field’s critical tweets.

“It is absolutely untrue to say that we have suspended any employees for tweeting about this show. Our employees are encouraged to disagree openly and we support their right to do so,” said a Netflix spokesperson on Monday.

"Several of you have also asked where we draw the line on hate. We don't allow titles at Netflix that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we don't believe 'The Closer' crosses that line," it read.

"Particularly in stand-up comedy, artistic freedom is obviously a very different standard of speech than we allow internally as the goals are different: entertaining people versus maintaining a respectful, productive workplace," Sarandon added in the memo.

Netflix staff are organizing a company-wide walk-out on October 20 to express their dissatisfaction with Sarandos' response. The walkout is being organized by Netflix's trans employee resource group,

The Verge reported.

"Trans Lives Matter. Trans Rights Matter. And as an organization, Netflix has continually failed to show deep care in our mission to Entertain the World by repeatedly releasing content that harms the Trans community and continually failing to create content that represents and uplifts Trans content," read the internal memo announcing the walkout seen by The Verge.

Netflix is yet to comment on the memo.
