Teacher Responds After Giving Student A Perfect Grade For Handing In 19-Word Fight Club Essay

A student who boldly submitted a 19-word Fight Club essay received full marks but also a strict warning from her teacher.

Essays are handled differently by everyone. Some people like to finish them fast, some put them off until the last minute, and some try every ‘trick’ to reach to word count with minimal effort.

We’ve all heard the ‘write random words and just put the text in white’ trick, haven’t we?

But student Allison Garrett developed a new way to do the homework without doing the hard work.

Allison tweeted her amazing movie review essay in 2019 after being assigned to write one at school.

“The opportunity arose, and I took my chances..,” she wrote in her post.

Allison posted an image of her essay titled ‘Fight Club’, implying she reviewed David Fincher’s 1999 film starring Edward Norton as ‘The Narrator’ and Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden.

Allison wrote 19 words about the movie instead of many pages. You can probably guess those words if you’ve seen the movie.

She said “The first rule of fight club is: you do not talk about fight club.”

She concluded the page with: “That’s it. That’s the essay.”

Allison’s essay referenced the movie’s iconic sentence while avoiding further discussion. She subsequently submitted her work with a statement that showed she was ‘proud’ rather than’sorry’ and received a 100/100 score.

Her teacher warned Allison, too.

The teacher couldn’t say they were mad about Allison’s essay given the score. However, they advised Allison not to exploit her cleverness.

They began: “I struggled over this grade for a long time. I finally decided you get a grade for a laugh and how relevant your review is for this particular movie.”

The instructor then warned: “Let me warn you: do NOT try this kind of thing with other professors; they may not have my sense of humor.”

Allison got lucky with the teacher, but you might not.
