We have the perfect movie for you if you’re looking for a new thriller to watch this weekend.
In addition to starring Sydney Sweeney, who is extraordinarily gifted and attractive, the film has been getting great reviews from both reviewers and general audiences.
The legendary Julianne Moore also stars.
This suspenseful thriller, Echo Valley, is currently streaming on Apple TV. Without giving away too much, viewers have been complimenting the movie and its unexpected turn.
One fan raved: “I absolutely loved this film! I usually don’t watch movies standing up but I couldn’t sit down for several pulse pounding scenes. Some critics described this movie as as unbelievable but crazy things happen all the time and I was left in awe.”
They went on: “Very smart film that left me yelling in frustration to cheering on Julianne Moore’s character in a totally unexpected twist!”
The Hollywood Reporter commended the performances of both leads and called it a “satisfyingly tense domestic thriller.”
Claire, played by Sweeney, gets into a lot of difficulty with her mother, Kate, who is played by Moore.
The synopsis reads: “In the edge-of-your-seat thriller Echo Valley, Kate (Oscar winner Julianne Moore) is a mother struggling to make peace with her troubled daughter Claire (multi-Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney) — a situation that becomes even more perilous when Claire shows up on Kate’s doorstep, hysterical and covered in someone else’s blood.
“As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival from BAFTA-winning director Michael Pearce and Emmy-nominated writer Brad Ingelsby.”
One fan wrote: “I thought the women in the film gave really good acting performances. I need a ride or die friend like the mom in the movie had (lol). The story had twists and turns that I didn’t expect. It kept me on the edge of my seat and made for a good Saturday night movie watch.”
Others stated that even while the characters are likable, that’s sort of the point: “I’d agree 100% with one of the other reviewers who said that just because you can’t stand certain characters in a movie (e.g., the mother and daughter in Echo Valley), it doesn’t diminish the quality of the film.”
“This movie shows the dangers of a weak-willed parent enabling an addicted child – and it does it amazingly well. My wife and I were riveted and the movie literally zipped by because we couldn’t stop watching the screen. It definitely helps if you can suspend your disbelief occasionally or ignore a few obvious plot holes,” wrote another viewer.
Sweeney’s angst-filled performance has also received accolades from fans, who claim it’s the best since her Euphoria days.
Others likened her to a surprising actor: “Sweeney is in her element when she gets to unleash ‘the Sween’. Her freak out scenes are some of the best I’ve seen of all time, same as in Euphoria. She really could be the female Nic Cage. And as for criticism of melodrama, I get it, but it actually works perfectly in this movie because the writing is so interesting with the insane twists in the movie.”
