The Korean drama horror series seems to be a hit with the audience who are hoping for a new season.
Netflix’s latest K-Drama horror series Sweet Home seems to be a hit with the audience. While Netflix hasn’t renewed Sweet Home for a second season yet, subscribers of the streaming service are already hoping for a new season. The Netflix Original Korean sci-fi series is based on the webtoon comic of the same name by Yongchan Hwang. According to Decider, within the first three days of its release online, the show catapulted into Netflix’s Top 10 list. According to the description of the webtoon, the thriller's synopsis reads: After an unexpected family tragedy, a reclusive high school student is forced to leave his home -- only to face something much scarier: a reality where monsters are trying to wipe out humanity. Now he must fight alongside a handful of reluctant heroes to try and save the world before it’s too late. Now a Netflix Original Series.
Unfortunately for fans, Netflix hasn't confirmed season 2 of the show just yet. There have been rumors that season 2 will begin filming in December 2021, but Netflix dismissed the reports.
"Nothing has been decided yet regarding the production of ["Sweet Home"] Season 2," Netflix says.
But who knows? The show is clearly popular, and there is a lot of material to work with for future episodes. The original Sweet Home Webtoon series contains 140 chapters, and many fans noted that certain storylines have still not been touched upon in the first season.
A few weeks after Netflix denied the rumors, a representative from Namoo Actors, Song Kang's agency, told Soompi that the actor is still in discussions with Netflix about season 2.
“It is true that we are in discussions about it, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
Season 1 revolved around a group of neighbors who come together to help save everyone from monsters trying to wipe out humanity. Over the ten episodes, the characters of Sweet Home must figure out whether to team up or do it on their own which leads to interesting character developments and plotlines. Future episodes could delve into this even further. At the end of season 1, only a handful of survivors made it out of the apartment complex, the Green Houses, alive.
The story of the series mainly follows Cha Hyun Soo, a high school student who has just moved into the Green Houses. Hyun Soo is played by Song Kang. In season 1, Decider reported Lee JinWook starred as "former detective SangWook; Lee SiYoung as former special operative Seo YiKung; Lee DoHyun as brainiac Lee EunHyuk; Park GyuYoung as musician Yoon JiSu; Go Min-Si as Eun Lee, the younger sister of Lee EunHyuk; Kim NamGee as Korean language professor Jeong JaeHeon; Kim KapSoo as terminally ill neighbor Ahn GilSeop; Goo YoonJung as GilSeop’s caretaker Park YuRi; and Kim SangHo as weapons aficionado Han DuSik." It'll be interesting to see who will join Sweet Home Season 2 if and when Netflix confirms the series.
