Strike the Blood, an anime series that captivated fans for 9 long years, has officially come to an end on July 29, 2022. The final two episodes of the fifth season, titled “Strike the Blood Final,” were released in the second volume of Blu-ray/DVD. The first two episodes of the season premiered on March 30, 2022.
An Emotional Farewell
To promote the final two episodes of the anime, a commercial was released featuring the opening theme song “Akatsuki no Kaleido Blood” by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets. This band has not only contributed to the Strike the Blood series but also to other notable anime such as High School of the Dead and Gate. The commercial also introduced the new character Ladli Ren, voiced by Megumi Han, who plays the sister of the anime’s antagonist, Shafriar Ren.
The Legacy of Strike the Blood
Strike the Blood was based on Gakuto Mikumo’s Strike the Blood light novel series, which was serialized by ASCII Media Works from 2011 to 2020. The light novel boasted 22 main volumes and 2 side stories. Additionally, a manga adaptation by Tate was published in Dengeki Daioh from 2012 to 2016, spanning 10 volumes. Yen Press has acquired the rights to publish the original light novel series in English.
Farewell to the Fourth Primogenitor
Strike the Blood tells the story of Kojou Akatsuki, a former ordinary high school boy who becomes the Fourth Primogenitor, the most powerful vampire of all time without any recollection of how it happened. Yukina Himeragi, a middle schooler, is sent to observe him and prevent him from going out of control. However, the decision to send a cute girl to monitor a massively powerful vampire whose abilities activate when he gets aroused may not have been the best idea. The story takes place on an artificial island filled with various demonic individuals, each with their own motives surrounding the Fourth Primogenitor.
After 9 years, Strike the Blood bids farewell, leaving behind a legacy of thrilling adventures and captivating characters.
