Everyone's beloved Noah Schnapp took to TikTok on Thursday to reveal some news to his followers, something he said that only his friends and family knew. The actor who rose to stardom for his role as Will Byers in the Netflix Original said in the video he wrote, "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know.'". The video stands at 40 million views as of now and he has gotten only support and love. In the Video Noah was lip-syncing to audio of someone else saying, "You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious."
He captioned the video, "I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.". This is a reference to his character being gay. There had been questions about Will's sexuality the whole time and after a heated exchange with his best friend he said that "It’s not my fault you don’t like girls."
Schnapp has been a fan favorite for quite some time now. As we saw his character struggle with his sexuality and situation we now understand that Noah also might have gone through the same thing who had been in the closet for 18 years. In July, in an interview with Variety, Noah Schnapp confirmed that his character was in love with his BFF Mike. "It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?” Schnapp said. “Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike."
In another interview with Forbes, Schnapp said that Will's life will come full circle by the end of Stranger Things season 5. He said, "I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect — the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will."
