'Stranger Things' Season 4 Teaser Trailer Shows Dr. Brenner's Return

Hopper is not the only one who's coming back for the new season. Here are some key points from the newly released teaser trailer for 'Stranger Things' Season 4.

Stranger Things- Dr. Brenner and Eleven

On Wednesday, May 5, 'Stranger Things' teased a seemingly huge announcement about the fourth season of the show through a short teaser video.

The cryptic teaser shows seven closed-circuit television sets with a static display, while classical music plays in the background.

The description of the video reads: "Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice. We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00 AM ET,"

We were expecting that the smash-hit Netflix series will finally release an official trailer or announce a release date the following day.

However, what we received instead was another short teaser trailer with no release date.

Nevertheless, we had a few special takeaways from the teaser. So, guess that's better than nothing, right?

We already know that Hopper is alive, thanks to the first teaser released by Netflix. However, it looks like he is not the only one who is coming back.

Watch the second teaser trailer below, and let's break down some of the easter eggs we found from the video.

Season 4 Will Delve Into Eleven's Past

The plot remains hugely under the wraps, but the teaser trailer seems to point out that season 4 will further explore Eleven's origin.

We had our first look at Eleven for season 4 through this close-up shot.

Doctor Brenner Is Back

Perhaps, the biggest reveal from the teaser so far is that Doctor Brenner is back! The last time we saw the sinister doctor was in season 1, getting attacked by the Demogorgon. He was presumed dead. However, the following seasons hinted that he is very much alive.

It is not clear whether the teaser was a flashback or is in the present time. After all, we only saw a close-up shot of Eleven's eyes in the video. Was she captured by Dr. Brenner again? Or was she only using her telekinetic abilities to find and listen to Dr. Brenner? We'll hopefully find out more in the next trailers.

One thing's for sure: we will see more of Matthew Modine in the new season.

002/004 Refers To The Number Of Trailers

The video description has another cryptic message that reads: "002/004."

Others have anticipated that this could be the release date for season 4 (February 4, 2022). However, it seems unlikely. The first teaser released in February 2020, which confirms that Hopper is alive and is in Russia, has a description that reads: "001/004". It looks like the characters refer to the number of trailers that are coming. So far, we have two, and it looks like two more trailers are on the way.

'Stranger Things' season 4 remains in production as of this writing. Filming for the new season was disrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic, which eventually caused the long gap between the release of the new season.

We'll continue to keep track of the latest updates on the series. So make sure to follow us and stay tuned.
