When a project is connected to both Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg, you can't help but get excited. Director Steven Spielberg announced that he is now working on a project at HBO. Spielberg revealed in his speech at the Berlin International Film Festival that he is "mounting a large production" in an effort to turn Kubrick's Napoleon into a seven-part limited series.

"With the co-operation of Christiane Kubrick and Jan Harlan, we’re mounting a large production for HBO based on Stanley’s original script Napoleon. We are working on Napoleon as a seven-part limited series."

The unmade film has been on Spielberg's mind for quite some time now. He announced the project back in 2013 and has remained very much involved in the film between other projects. Steven Spielberg is yet to announce whether the project is under development or completed or whether HBO has ordered the series to be made. However, at that time, the project was extremely expensive and ambitious and could not be made as no studio was ready to take it on.

However, after The Fabelmans, he recently said he is still trying to decide on his next project and we can't wait to find out if this project will be lucky enough to get his attention.

We do have the information that he has already written the preliminary screenplay and is ready to take extensive measures to bring this production to life. The man was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award, and he described the moment as a "tremendous high point in [his] life. He has a lot of reverence for Kubrick's works, and we can't wait to see what he will do with Kubrick's brainchild. With this collab of Kubrick's idea and Spielberg and Cary Joji, we can only imagine what this project might look like... For more updates, watch this space...
