Can't get enough of Edward and Bella's love story? We have great news for you.

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer confirms she's planning to write two more Twilight books to complete the saga.

In August 2020, Meyer released 'Midnight Sun', the highly-anticipated retelling of Twilight based on Edward Cullen's perspective.

The book immediately took the number 1 spot on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list, with more than 1 million copies sold in its first week out.

Following the release, Meyer appeared in a virtual event where she revealed that she is keen to explore possible ideas and storylines before returning to write the next Twilight addition.

"There are two more books I think in the world that I want to write. I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it’s there. I am not ready to do that right now, I want to do something brand new," the author said via Yahoo.

She added: "For me, a lot of the joy of writing comes from creating and I really want to do a new world and new rules and new mythology. Mythology is kind of my thing."

Midnight Sun released on August 4, 2020. The fifth book in the series is a little controversial after the 12 chapters were leaked online back in 2008.

Midnight Sun shed new light on Edward Cullen's character. Answering frequently asked questions on her website, Meyer wrote: "Edward comes across as very confident and sure of himself in Twilight, when the whole time he was actually wracked with doubt and guilt."

Before the book was released, Meyer teased that fans will be shocked at Edward's level of anxiety.

"While in Twilight we got to see all of Bella’s second-guessing and hesitation, from Edward’s point of view Bella comes across as very serene and self-possessed,’ Meyer wrote.

It has been 16 years since the arrival of the first Twilight book. The first novel was released in 2005 and introduced fans to a seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan, who fell in love with Edward Cullen, a 103-year-old vampire stuck in his 17-year-old body.

The first Twilight film was released in 2008, starring Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella, grossing over US$393 million worldwide.

There are currently five books in the novel series--- Twilight (2005), New moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), Breaking Dawn (2008), Midnight Sun (2020).

Meanwhile, with Meyer still exploring story ideas, we are likely to wait a little longer to get our hands on the upcoming two more additions to the novel series.
