'Squid Game': Everything We Know So Far

People who failed at life get a mysterious invitation to participate in a game for a chance to win $10 million, but no one is allowed to leave until there is a final winner. 'Squid Game' is coming on Netflix in 2021.

If you are a sucker for K-drama, then 2021 is your lucky year! Netflix has invested hundreds of millions of dollars for South Korean content, and the majority of it is coming to the platform this year.

One of the K-drama shows expected to hit the streaming giant this year is the thriller series 'Squid Game,' written and directed by Hwang Dong-Hyuk. The director is the same guy behind 'The Fortress,' the 2017 highly-acclaimed Korean film that bagged prestigious awards at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, including the award for Best Screenplay.

After a highly successful project, we are expecting Hwang Dong-Hyuk to deliver another impressive work on the upcoming Netflix thriller.

Here is everything we know about 'Squid Game.'

What Is The Plot Of 'Squid Game'?

The K-drama series follows a group of people who are considered failures in their respective lives. They get a chance at redemption after they are given mysterious invitations to become contestants in a survival game. The grand prize is $10 Million and a chance to start a new life after failing and messing it up beforehand. The game commences in a secret location, and none of the contestants are allowed to leave until a final winner is declared. This is a chance in a lifetime, but the road to success will not be easy.

The story will include popular children’s games from the 1970s and 1980s of Korea, such as the Squid Game. The Squid Game is the literal translation of a Korean game, a type of tag where offense and defense use a squid-shaped board drawn in the dirt.
