Patrick is set to be the star of his own show coming to Nickelodeon soon!

A SpongeBob spin-off series starring Patrick star as a talk show host is in the works in Nickelodeon.

Rightfully titled The Patrick Star Show, the upcoming spin-off series is expected to take a more intimate look and ‘deep dive’ at the usually goofy pink star's character.

The spin-off will follow a format of a late-night talk show with guest appearances from different characters in Bikini Bottom.

The complete line up of characters to make an appearance is yet to be confirmed, as per Variety.

Several new characters played by new voice actors are expected to be introduced in The Patrick Star Show.

The spin-off is still in very early stages as Deadline recently reported that Nickelodeon is still finalizing deals for The Patrick Star Show, although voiceover recordings have already started.

The entertainment website also revealed that the spin-off series will have 13 episodes with the creative team behind the original series on board.

Nickelodeon is yet to announce more details about the spin-off series.

The Patrick Star Show is the second spin-off series in the Spongebob franchise.

The first spin-off, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, is set to premiere on CBS All Access sometime next year. Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years follows extremely cute 10-year old SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends during a summer at a sleep-away camp.

In a statement, Executive Vice President of Animation Production and Development at Nickelodeon Ramsey Naito said:

"When our younger characters first meet in Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, there is an instant chemistry among them that could only be conveyed by the incredible talents who have lived and breathed them every day for the last two decades.

We are so excited to have the original SpongeBob cast join our new series, which is incredibly inventive and funny, and visually stunning in CG."

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years

SpongeBob SquarePants was created by the late Stephen Hillenburg and launched in 1999 in Nickelodeon.

The show featuring a yellow sponge, a pink star, and their underwater pals is the longest-running animated series of the network. It also reigned as the No 1 kids’ animated series on TV for the past 18 years and became a huge pop culture reference. It was distributed in 208 countries and territories and has been translated in 55-plus languages.

Meanwhile, the latest movie in the franchise with a Keanu Reeves guest appearance, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, will be released on CBS All Access and premium VOD in early 2021.
