'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One' First Look Trailer With Miles And Gwen Stacy Is Here

The trailer provides a setup for what is going to be an adventure across the multiverse a new team of Spider-People who are up against a powerful villain.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One

Miles Morales is back!

The animated world of Spider-Man and the multiverses that were unleashed in the first installment, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), is back. In the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One, the first trailer for the next adventure, we are reunited with Miles, who is now older and in college.

In the trailer, we take a trip down memory lane with Miles back in his childhood room, listening to Sunflower by Post Malone, the same song that he was listening to three years ago. His relaxing time is interrupted by a visit from Gwen Stacy, Spider-Woman from another dimension, through a portal. She then asks if he wants to get out of there, only for Miles to inform her that he's grounded. Gwen then takes a backward dive out of his window and asks, "Is Spider-Man grounded?" This then provides a setup for what is going to be an adventure across the multiverse with Gwen and a new team of Spider-People who are up against a powerful villain. The unique art and animation style that set the first movie apart is back and looks as stunning as ever. We also get to meet Spider-Man 2099, a new but familiar character who was first introduced in the Into the Spider-Verse post-credits. It was confirmed that Oscar Isaac will be playing Spider-Man 2099, who happens to be Miguel O'Hara from Nueva York, a renamed New York.

Shameik Moore is reprising as Miles, along with Hailee Steinfeld voicing Gwen. The sequel will also be exploring the relationship between the two. The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson with a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. The two-part sequel was announced in 2019, and animation work started last year.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lord and Miller explained, "Miles' story is an epic. We wrote what we thought the story needed to be, and to our surprise, we realized it was two movies instead of one. We're working on them both as we speak." They also added, "Every dimension looks and feels radically different from all the others. They all look like they were drawn by a different artist." To make things more exciting, they also teased,  "Miles will reunite with some old friends and meet... a lot of new ones." This would mean in addition to Gwen, we will also be seeing Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn), and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson).

Part One of the new Spider-Verse adventure will be out in theatres on October 7, 2022. Part Two is scheduled to release in 2023.
