Spenser Confidential absolutely crushing viewing statistics becoming one of Netflix's most-watched films ever!
Mark Wahlberg's new Netflix film Spenser Confidential came out last week and absolutely crushed it! The film has already landed among Netflix's most-watched films ever and consistently remained as the most-watched film this week. It seems as though everyone loved the film but regardless, it still managed to score only 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. Whaaaat?!
Rotten Tomatoes is a pretty reputable site and there has to be a reason the Mark Wahlberg hit got such a low score. One reviewer summed it up when they wrote:
"Fans of Parker’s Spenser beware: the casting stinks, the script stinks, and the story is an amalgamation of formulaic platitudes. Robert Parker would not be happy."
But is the film as bad as the Rotten Tomatoes score suggests? It seems like critics and the general audience can't come to an agreement. The critics' score is bad but the audience score is a solid 64%. One fan said that the film was ‘enjoyable but predictable’ and another said that it is ‘a simple movie with a simple premise.’
The film is based on the best-selling novel Wonderland by Ace Atkins and Robert B. Parker created character, Spenser. The official synopsis is:
"To unravel a twisted murder conspiracy, a former police detective returns to Boston's criminal underworld."
The film may not be any good but the trailer released did a great job at getting people hyped up for the film. And with big names like Mark Wahlberg, Winston Duke and Alan Arkin who can say no?
You can watch Spenser Confidential right now on Netflix.
