Sofia Carson headlines Netflix's newest movie, "Feel The Beat." We have compiled a list of 10 things that you may not have known about the actress.
Sofia Carson is already pretty well known in the world of acting. She starred as Evie in the Disney movie Descendants (2015) and its sequel, Descendants 2 (2017). She also had a guest role in the Disney series Austin & Ally. She has now moved away (just a little bit) from Disney and is now a Netflix star. She has found her new beat in the Netflix movie "Feel The Beat." And in honor of her fantastic role, we will be putting together a list of a few things that you may not have known about her. Let's get it started.
Sofia Carson is currently not seeing anyone (publicly at least). She enjoys the single life and wants to focus on her career. In May 2019, she told Cosmopolitan that, for now, she wants to prioritize her career over dating. "I've never tried dating apps," Sofia said, later adding, "I'm dating my career."
Sofia Carson was a signed artist before she got into acting. In 2012 she got signed to BMI records and was all set to be the next big thing in music. Acting, however, has since taken over as her main job, but she is still creating music. She released her debut single 'Love Is The Name' on April 8, 2016. She even featured on the film soundtracks for the Descendants film such as Rotten to the Core (2015), Set It Off (2015), Chillin Like a Villain (2017), It's Goin' Down (2017) and Ways to be Wicked (2017).
Sofia Carson is still new to the acting game. She made her first appearance on TV on the Disney show Austin & Ally. That role propelled her career even further as she caught the attention of MTV execs who hired her to join the cast of MTV's Faking It.
Sofia Carson did not attend a huge and highly renowned acting school. She majored in communications with a minor in French at UCLA. But before that, she enrolled at the Motion Dance Studio and took part in competitions with the IMPAC Youth Ensemble program.
Even though Sofia had a few roles here and there, none came close to her role in Descendants, which saw her chilling with the likes of Ariana Grande and Gwen Stefani at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards. She was generally unknown before that and could credit a lot of her fame right now to the Descendants movies.
She first auditioned for the part of Audrey, Prince Ben's girlfriend, and the daughter of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. However, the role was instead given to Sarah Jeffrey. Sofia was disappointed, but she later learned that she would be playing the role of Evie.
Sofia Carson smashed her role as Evie and did a fantastic job on the soundtracks for the movie. But she didn't stop there. Audible, clearly impressed with the young actress, invited her to narrate the audiobooks to the quartet of books from the author of Descendants, Melissa de la Cruz.
She is trilingual. She studied French at UCLA, and due to her Colombian heritage, she managed to pick up Spanish.
Sofia's parents were from Colombia, but she is a first-generation American and was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1993.
She was born on April 10, 1993, which makes her an Aries.
