The chase is far from over.
From the creator of 'Money Heist,' Spanish action crime drama 'Sky Rojo' proves that it's worth all the glitz and the clamor.
The series continues to gain plenty of attention, even after two seasons. Created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobat, 'Sky Rojo' tells the story of three prostitutes who try to get away from their pimp.
In the second season, the girls get a major win after they successfully escape from the island. However, their freedom won't last long as a vengeful Moises is now determined to avenge his soul brother's death.
Here is everything we know about 'Sky Rojo' Season 3.
Yes, there is! Netflix officially confirmed a third season of 'Sky Rojo' in August 2021 through a short teaser announcement.
The renewal is no longer surprising. Based on how the second season ended, it was clear that the showrunner is already planning more episodes in the future.
Co-creator Alex Pina also teased that the characters can still go "a long way." However, their future still depends on the viewership and whether or not Netflix decides to give the show another run.
"Of course, the characters could go a long way, and that is in the end what determines if you have another season or not. It's the character design. The story at the end is the least of it," Pina said via Sensacine.
In terms of viewership, the second season reached the number one spot in Netflix's top 10 in numerous locations, including France, Mexico, Brazil, and Italy.
The show's popularity and consistent performance were enough to secure a third season.
Netflix shows usually take a 1-year gap before releasing new seasons. Since the series managed to secure renewal in August, the new season will likely return next year, 2022.
Asier Etxeandia confirmed that season 3 will begin filming sometime this month, November.
Here is a rough translation of the actor's post:
"Confirmed, after the skyrojomania we started shooting season 3 in November."
The conflict is certainly not over, as Moises quotes at the end of season 2:
"We may have lost the battle. But not the war."
He is determined to revenge Christian's murder. Although Coral, Wendy, and Gina managed to flee the island on a cruise, Moises' final words suggest that he is not letting them go that easily. He will likely chase the girls, wherever they might be in the world.
Moises and Christian initially wanted to change their lives and leave Romeo and their dirty business for good. However, after a heist goes wrong, Christian accidentally gets shot. The three girls managed to escape.
Although it was Romeo, who left Christian to bleed to death, the former blamed the girls for the incident, igniting anger and revenge from Moises.
The third season will likely follow Moises as he hunts down the three girls to avenge Christian's demise.
We are expecting the lead cast members to reprise their roles. They are Verónica Sánchez as Coral, Lali Espósito as Wendy and Yanis Prado as Gina.
Miguel Ángel Silvestre is also likely to return as Moises, as well as Asier Etxeandia as Romeo.
There might be new faces coming as well, but we are still waiting for official casting announcements for now.
Not yet. The new season is yet to enter production. Let's enjoy the season 2 trailer while waiting. We will update this space once the official trailer for season 3 is available.
