Shadows House might be one of the best dark fantasy anime with mysterious undertones which has been released in recent years. If you are a fan of the likes of Promised Neverland and Boogiepoop Phantom, then there is a high chance that Shadows House is right up your alley. Adapted from a Japanese manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Nori and Hisshi, Shadows House was serialized in Shueisha's Seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump in September 2018. The anime series adapted by CloverWorks first aired from April to July 2021 with the second concluding in September 2022. So, here is everything we know so far about a potential season 3 of Shadows House.
Aniplex, Shueisha, Studio CloverWorks, or any other production company related to the anime has not confirmed the official release date of Shadows House Season 3. On November 26, 2022, the voice actors of Shadows House assembled at the Blu-Ray/DVD release event of Shadows House Season 2 and spoke about the series. Posting on Twitter, the voice actors wrote that they “believe that we will meet again” and they wish to “do an event again” but they didn’t hint at any plans for a season 3.
Shadows House tells the story of Living Dolls who work in a grand mansion located atop a hill and a clan of mysterious faceless people who reside in it. They are revealed to be humans who were abducted and brought to the Shadows House from a village called Mirrorside. The Living Dolls are tasked with endlessly cleaning the soot in the household that their masters emit. The protagonist is a Living Doll named Emilico who serves her mistress, named Kate Mirror. As they start learning about each other and grow close, mysteries within the mansion begin to unfold and a number of dark secrets are revealed.
The protagonists Emilico and Kate are voiced by Sasahara Yuu and Kitou Akari respectively. The supporting cast includes Kawashima Reiji playing Patrick, who is famous for voicing Fushi in To Your Eternity, and Kugimiya Rie voicing Barbie. Shadows House is produced by Aniplex, WOWOW, Tokyo MX, Shueisha and BS Asahi with Studio CloverWorks working on the animation.
Regarding there being plenty of source material left to adapt from, the third season could potentially pick up from the Inspection Arc of the manga after the conclusion of Master Robe Arc. If the animators follow the plot of the manga with dedication, we’ll see Kate being worried about Edward coming for an inspection since Edward is suspicious about what goes on in the mansion. Fans can expect to find out if Kate can win more comrades to her revolution and along with Emilico can she reveal all the secrets of the Shadows House to Patrick and Louise. Unfortunately, the weebs have to wait for an uncertain amount of time to get the answers. Any upcoming seasons are expected to be available for streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation.
