'Seven Deadly Sins' Season 6: Everything We Know So Far

Will 'Seven Deadly Sins' return for season 6?

This article was recently reviewed and is up to date as of July 15, 2021

'Seven Deadly Sins' (Nanatsu no Taizai) season 5 has finally arrived on Netflix. However, fans are wondering why there are only 12 episodes available instead of the usual 24.

'Seven Deadly Sins' is among the biggest and most popular anime offerings on the platform, and fans were ecstatic when the first half of season 5 arrived on Netflix on June 28, 2021.

While fans should be happy to know that the remaining episodes should be on their way soon, another question immediately follows: Will there be season 6?

Let's find out.

Will There Be 'Seven Deadly Sins' Season 6?

'Seven Deadly Sins' season 6 is not greenlit by Netflix yet. But don't worry because there is still plenty of 'Seven Deadly Sins' content coming our way. Season 5 of 'The Seven Deadly Sins' has only released 12 out of the 24 episodes of the anime. The fifth season is most likely going to be a split-cour. It means that the anime will have a "split” or break between airing episodes.

We still do not know when the remaining 12 episodes of season 5 will release on Netflix. However, it's worth noting that the anime also has a movie adaptation titled 'The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light.'

The movie is a continuation of season 5 and premiered in Japan on July 2, 2021. We are expecting the fifth season to cover the final chapters of the manga since 'The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light' serves as an original sequel story. The film has an all-new story written by original manga author Nakaba Suzuki. Check out the official trailer for 'The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light' below.

Although the fifth season is expected to cover the manga finale, there is still a glimmer of hope for the anime to return for season 6.

Author Suzuki could just create an entirely new story to cover another season, just like what he did in the movie. Or they could also adapt 'The Seven Deadly Sins: The Four Knights of the Apocalypse' (Nanatsu no Taizai: Mokushiroku no Yon-Kishi), a sequel to the original manga. Unfortunately, production for 'The Four Knights' has just begun in late January 2021. As of June 2021, there are still two tankōbon volumes available. So, it might take a while before there is enough source material to cover a whole season.

There are still plenty of options to go through. So, unless we get official cancelation news, fans can continue to hope that another season will eventually happen in the future.

When Will The 'Seven Deadly Sins' Season 5 Part 2 Release On Netflix?

There is no Netflix release date for the remaining half of 'Seven Deadly Sins' season 5 part 2 as of this writing yet.

Since the film will be a continuation of season 5's ending, we expected the remaining episodes to release before the film arrives. Unfortunately, this didn't happen.

We will keep an eye on release date announcements and update this space for you.

When Will 'Seven Deadly Sins' Season 6 Release?

Season 6 is still not renewed, and there is still not enough source material to adapt for a new season. Therefore, it's going to be a long, uncertain wait. We will update this space once more information is available.

What Is The Plot Of 'Seven Deadly Sins' Season 6?

The anime follows the titular knights who get disbanded after getting framed for plotting a coup of the Liones Kingdom. Years after the Seven Deadly Sins got sequestered by the Holy Knights, the third Liones princess, Elizabeth, finds Meliodas, the bandleader. The two embarked on a quest to search for the missing members of the Seven Deadly Sins so they can clear their names and liberate Liones from the Holy Knights.

It was later revealed that Meliodas is the Demon King's cursed son and that his destiny is tied to Elizabeth's.

As mentioned, 'Seven Deadly Sins' season 5 will finish adapting the manga series on which the show is based. If the anime returns for a new season, we can expect it to adapt an entirely new story or the manga sequel 'The Four Knights.'
