This is a live-update article and it will be updated as new details about Sense8 Season 3 come our way. This is what we know so far.
Sense8 was one of the best OG titles to be created by Netflix. It set the stage for the plethora of sci-fi bangers to hit the streaming giant - Stranger Things, Dark, and Black Mirror, to name a few. But after six years, can we still expect a third season of Sense8?
Sense8 has been canceled and will not be returning for a third season.
There have been multiple conflicting reports about a potential season 3 but Netflix has made it quite clear that they don't intend on making a third season of Sense8.
Obviously, this news did not go well with the fan base with petitions being created to urge Netflix to renew the show. There is currently a petition on change.org with 104,000 signatures.
Netflix has not given a specific reason for the show's cancelation and at this point, it's anyone's guess. But it possibly all started with Lilly Wachowski leaving the series as well as the firing of one of the main cast members, Toby Onwumere. Then to top it all off, the show's budget may have skyrocketed due to the numerous filming locations across the globe. It is unclear how the show's viewing performance was as it may have played a part in the show's cancelation. If the show's viewing statistics declined over the seasons then it wouldn't make sense for Netflix to keep pumping resources into a failing show.
There is very little hope for the show to return for another season, given the length of time since season 2. The hype around the show has definitely gone down and Netflix is pumping its resources into more valuable shows such as Wednesday and Stranger Things. I'm sorry to burst your hope bubble.
Sense8 season 2 picks up right where the first season left off, with the sensates still on the run from Whispers and his followers. The sensates are scattered all over the world, and they must find a way to come together and stop Whispers once and for all.
In the second season, the sensates learn more about their abilities and their connection to each other. They also learn more about Whispers and his plans. Whispers is a sensate who has been corrupted by power. He wants to use the sensates' abilities for his own evil purposes.
The sensates must work together to stop Whispers. They must also deal with their own personal problems. Lito and Hernando are struggling with their relationship. Sun is trying to find her way in the world after being released from prison. Kala is trying to balance her sensate life with her arranged marriage. Nomi is trying to come to terms with her identity as a transgender woman. Will is trying to find his place in the world after being shot.
The sensates must overcome all of these challenges if they want to stop Whispers and save the world.
