Sam Raimi Confirms That A New Evil Dead Movie Might Happen

Raimi said, "I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert] and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie.”

Good news for all horror lovers! There is indeed an actual chance now that the 'Evil Dead' franchise might rise from its shallow grave as Sam Raimi is definitely considering to make one more movie, reported IndiWire. The cult hit horror film franchise was dead after its fan-embraced TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead and even that was canceled in 2018 after three seasons on Starz, and star Bruce Campbell’s announced retirement from his role Ash Williams. But, creator Sam Raimi is now teasing that the franchise might make a comeback with a brand new movie.

Some kind of a new 'Evil Dead' project is in works, Raimi confirmed, who is the writer/director/producer of the franchise’s film trilogy and executive producer on Ash vs. Evil Dead. He confirmed this news during an interview with 'Bloody Disgusting' where he said that his plans of making a new movie are already in motion and also that he is working with creative partner, Robert Tapert. Raimi said, "I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert] and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie.”

It goes without saying that the concept of another one is a pretty unique and complicated proposal when it comes to the 'Evil Dead' franchise since it has two very unique iterations from which to choose. The first being the 2013 version of Fede Álvarez’s reboot movie 'Evil Dead' the original cabin-in-the-woods premise though an updated aesthetic with a non-comical approach and it mainly focused on the character of new protagonist Mia.

Just after a few years, Ash vs. Evil Dead returned to continue the original trilogy 1981’s The Evil Dead, 1987’s Evil Dead II and 1992’s Army of Darkness. Campbell came back to his role Ash who, once again, must combat invading Deadite forces, this time joined by companions Pablo and Kelly. Raimi was sad about Campbell's retirement. He said, "I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original Evil Deadline. But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede [Álvarez] would come back and make the sequel… but he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that.”
