Some anime shows like 'Youjo Senki' follow an engrossing theme where the main protagonist is the villain of the series portrayed in brilliant ways. It's a fan favorite and follows a 9-year-old evil blonde fighting on a battlefield, making it an interesting watch. The show maintains a serious tone that supports the entire war-centric theme, including the deaths, grittiness, and brutal realities of war that make the show worth watching. It received a high score of 7.96/10 on My AnimeList.
Renewal Status: Officially Renewed
After the first season came out in 2017, a movie sequel called ‘Youjo Senki Movie’ was released on February 8, 2019. Because of this amazing movie sequel, fans started hoping to see a second season. Also, there is enough material and content for the creation of a whole new season with 12 episodes. According to an article on Crunchyroll, the show has extended its runtime to 14 more episodes, making the total number of episodes count up to 26. This was an early sign of the show's renewal. But now we have an official confirmation. On June 19th, 2021, during the Saga of Tanya the Evil Roundtable special on Abema, it was announced that the second season of the TV anime adaptation of Carlo Zen’s Saga of Tanya the Evil light novel series is in production. A teaser trailer and visual were also released, and you can check them out below.
Sadly, we did not get a release date, but we can hope to see the second installment sometime in 2024.
The story shows a guy who refuses to believe in God and does not believe in the idea of an afterlife. But, he must come to terms with this fact when he dies. There is a mysterious Being X, who calls himself God, plans on punishing this man for his skepticism. Even standing in front of God, the man does not believe in the concept of God and doubts the idea of the immortality of the soul and reincarnation. It results in his rebirth in the body of a girl, Tanya Degurechaff. Eventually, the story continues in the world, similar to WWI Europe. According to the prescription, Tanya must have a natural death. Otherwise, she will go to hell and rot there while atoning for the sins of her past. Therefore, she tries harder to avoid punishment, and Tanya enlists the military service in the Empire's Mages Division. To achieve the purpose, she must climb the military table of ranks as high as possible. She soon turns into a ruthless soldier who is going to wipe out any obstacle. She becomes fierce and dominates the inferior soldiers, and brutally punishes those who dared to disobey. She gets the nickname 'Devil of the Rhine.'
In the second season, Tanya is expected to fight with Mary Sioux, and Mary lost her family in the war that happened because of Tanya's actions. They have a clash because Tanya is an atheist and does not believe in God's existence, while Mary is a stronger believer in the Creator. By the end of the season, Tanya will possibly challenge God directly.
