More than a year later, Ruby Rose finally reveals the real reason why she left the Batwoman series.
When Ruby Rose left her role on The CW's Batwoman, many speculations arose. But what was the real reason for her departure from the series? More than a year later, Ruby Rose has set the record straight.
During a recent interview on Australia's The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the actress revealed that she was actually allergic to The Batwoman suit.
I did find out that I was allergic to latex ... unfortunately, my mask is latex.
I was getting worse and worse, because as you get more contact with it, I guess you get more reactions. I took off the [mask] at the end, and my whole face was just hives. My throat was all messed up.
It was like it was out of a scary movie.
In May 2020, Ruby Rose had expressed that her decision to leave was a very difficult one to make.
This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.
I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made season one a success — I am truly grateful.
Ruby Rose also clarified that it wasn't the stunts on the show that landed her in surgery.
So..For the past few years (decade) I've been dealing with a spine issue. I am now recovering from a back procedure, but I do need to stay active, so before I get seen with my cane and wheel chair in public, I'd rather put it out there that I'm fine and going to be fine.
Javicia Leslie has since taken over the role of Batwoman. Season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
If you can't get enough of Ruby Rose, you can see her new film, Vanquish on Amazon Prime.
