The new Netflix anime Romantic Killer is adapted from Wataru Momose’s manga of the same name and debuted on Netflix on October 27, 2022, with a 12-episode first season. Here’s the manga’s official synopsis, which is reflected in the show: High schooler Anzu Hoshino has a great life. Every day she plays video games, pigs out on snacks, and pets her beloved cat. But this blissful existence is turned into a confusing mess when a magical creature transports her to an altered reality bereft of her favorite things.

The idea is that Anzu is anti-romance but is forced through these circumstances to consider becoming romantically involved with various potential suitors, a dynamic that forms the bulk of the first season. Here’s everything we know about the show’s potential future.

Will Romantic Killer Return With Season 2?

At the time of writing, there have been no updates on the way forward for Romantic Killer on Netflix. This is not the best news as a year has gone since its premiere and we haven't gotten any word from Netflix about a new season. We'll keep you posted on any new updates.

Does Romantic Killer  Need A Season 2?

The English translation of the manga is only available for the first volume. To read ahead, we had to look at the raw Japanese scans to see how much of the source material had been covered. We can confirm that all 38 chapters of the manga have been covered by the Netflix anime adaptation. However, this doesn’t mean that we won’t see more of Romantic Killer on Netflix. The anime ends on the same cliffhanger as the manga where Anzu discovers that her three favorite items, video games, chocolate, and her cat, have been returned to her, but only temporarily. If Anzu is still single by the end of high school, she will lose all three forever! The major difference between the anime and manga is how the wizard Kate is assigned to Yukana as her new assignment. Meanwhile, Riri flies into the sky, indicating that things are progressing in Anzu’s love life, leaving us with a “to be continued.” So, even though the manga has seemingly come to an end, it looks like the anime doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

What might Romantic Killer Season 2 be about?

A second season would be likely to carry on directly from the end of the first, with Anzu trying to navigate her relationship with the boys while dealing with the much higher stakes imposed on her by Riri’s return. That ticking-clock device and the erosion of Ansu’s desires — again! — would provide a solid motivation for her to reexamine her relationships with Tsukasa, Junta, and Hijiri.
