When we first saw Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy, he was our instant favorite. A new internet theory suggests that he is going to die in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
Guardians of the Galaxy is slated to come out sometime during 2022 or 2023. For a long time, this film is touted as the end of this iteration of the titular team, even by filmmaker James Gunn himself. As seen during the events of 'Avengers: Endgame', Marvel isn't afraid to kill off headlining characters if it makes sense for the story and if it will aid in further storytelling. This is exactly the major reason why Rocket Raccoon already has a target on his back leading into the Guardians of the Galaxy threequel.

Similar to Tony Stark's storyline, Rocket Raccoon;'s arc has also come to a full circle. He started off as a selfish, self-absorbed character has evolved into an understanding leader empathetic of others. During a number of times, Gunn himself has said Rocket is the character he identifies most with. This goes on to prove that there is no bigger statement the writer/director could make than by killing off his favorite character in a production of the movie that has been eventful, to say the least. In a way, it'd be a reincarnation of sorts for Gunn, since he was fired and subsequently rehired by Marvel Studios.
One other thing that can also be taken into consideration is that Rocket is the lone member of the Guardians of the Galaxy to not die in some shape, way, or form. Both forms of Groot has died, apart from Rocket, everyone else was decimated during the snap by the Mad Titan, and if you consider Nebula as the core member of the team, we have also seen her on-screen death. During his time as a writer and director in the MCU, Gunn is known for adding some really shocking moments and there wouldn't be a more shocking move to pull at this stage in the franchise.
