Robert Downey Jr. Says That Iron Man Could Still Make A Return

Robert Downey Jr. may actually be returning to the MCU!

If you haven't seen Avengers: Endgame then it's just unfortunate. So spoiler alert, Tony Stark dies. Death usually means the end but is there a possibility that Tony Stark can return in some way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, the possibility is actually there and Robert Downey Jr. may actually be down for it.

In an interview with Extra, promoting his latest movie, Doolittle, RDJ and his wife Susan were asked whether they thought Iron Man could return to the MCU in the future. RDJ first started his response with “Yeah, anything could happen. I’m really enjoying…” But he was then interrupted by his wife who warned that his refusal to rule out a comeback would be the talk of the town that fans may not be able to let go.

So RDJ then revised his response and said:

As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go. I also think Marvel is on this journey now and they’re trying a bunch of other stuff, and I’m excited for them to see how all that goes. It’s hard to project.

It sounds like RDJ isn't completely ruling out a comeback, but how?

Ironheart

There is a possibility that RDJ can lend his voice to an A.I Tony Stark in any upcoming Ironheart film. In the comics, Riri Williams, the main protagonist in the Ironheart story is guided by an A.I Tony Stark. If the MCU decides to stick to the comics in this regard then we may see Robert Downey Jr. on for another few films. What makes this even more possible is the fact that RDJ has stated that he wants to see Riri Williams enter the MCU. So if they call on him to play an A.I Tony Stark he will most likely say "Yes!"

At the moment this is is all speculation and nothing has yet been confirmed but it's always great to know what's possible. Wouldn't it be amazing to see Tony Stark guiding young Riri Williams in almost the same way that he did Peter Parker? The main difference is that he's not actually going to be real. This will be a great development if it happens and all we can do now is hope!
