Rob Zombie is amping up the spookiness, this Halloween. His movie, The Munsters is headed to Netflix (at least in the United States) in the fall of 2022, as per Collider.

The Munsters was a TV series that ran in the mid-1960s on CBS. The reboot of the 1960s classic revolves around the origin story of how Herman (Jeff Daniel Phillips) and Lily (Sheri Moon Zombie) first met and the history behind their legendary courtship. Not very happy with the monster his daughter has picked to spend her (after)life with, Grandpa aka The Count (Dan Roebuck) will try to pull the two apart, something that’s absolutely going to backfire for the concerned parent.

Along with the three stars, the film will also feature Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Cassandra Peterson as Barbara Carr, Dee Wallace as the voice of “Good Morning Transylvania”, Jeremy Wheeler as Mr. Gateman, and Tomas Boykin as Lester. Two members of the original cast, Pat Priest and Butch Patrick will also appear in the production.

The first trailer debuted on July 13th and it’s fair to say it did so to mixed reactions. The news of the movie coming to Netflix was announced by Rob Zombie himself on Instagram. He also pointed out that The Munsters would be releasing alongside Tim Burton's The Addams Family spinoff, Wednesday. Both shows are known to have been listed back-to-back in the 1964-1965 TV guide and were favorites with the audience back then. With the two new versions coming out at the same time, this would mark the second time both the shows were colliding with each other!

“This fall we are gonna spook-out like it’s 1964! Yep, THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY are returning to the boob tube at the same time courtesy of @netflix It’s been 58 years since this clash of the titans first happened. Perfect entertainment for your pumpkin carving party. Check out this wicked fall preview issue of TV Guide for the 64-65 season I found while cleaning. Wacky monster fans unite! ☠️☠️☠️☠️ #themunsters,” Zombie wrote in his Instagram post.

The movie is distributed by Universal 1440 Entertainment, one of Universal Pictures’ content arms. They’re typically known for some of the smaller productions from the studio and are often associated with being “direct-to-DVD,” missing out on a theatrical run.

While Zombie had previously announced that The Munsters will be arriving on screens sometime in September, no specific release date has been set for Zombie's or Burton’s newest projects.
