Red-Notice

Red Notice, the heist action comedy film on Netflix, has become the second-most-watched movie of all time on the streaming platform. The film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot was released on November 12, 2021. It also saw a limited theatrical release on November 5. It has received mixed reviews but it went on to become the most-watched movie at the time of its debut on Netflix nonetheless. It is now well on its way to becoming the most-watched movie of all time on Netflix at the current rate.

Red Notice

Within the first two weeks of the movie on Netflix, Red Notice has managed to clock 277.9 million hours of watch time. It is expected to topple the Sandra Bullock-starring thriller, Bird Box which has 282 million hours so far. The film was released in 2018. Red Notice has been in the top 10 for two weeks in a row and for the week from November 15-21 it has logged 129.1 million hours, reported Deadline. In second place is Vanessa Hudgens-starrer franchise threequel, The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star with 24.77 million hours of watch time. A critically acclaimed film, Tick, Tick…Boom, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s feature directorial musical with a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes was missing from the top 10 most viewed films on the streaming site. Red Notice on the other hand has only a 37% rating.

'Bird Box' Spinoff Movie

Red Notice follows an FBI special agent, John Hartley (Johnson), who is on a mission to capture a notorious art thief called The Bishop (Gadot). To do this, he reluctantly teams up with Nolan Booth (Reynolds), another well-known art thief. The movie was written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. It was produced by Hiram Garcia, Johnson, and Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, Beau Flynn’s Flynn Picture Co., and Thurber’s Bad Version.

Speaking to Variety, Garcia had said of the film, "What we have planned is to let's see how this goes. I think there is... with Seven Bucks Productions, it's almost like 'franchise' is just part of our conversation. But we're also smart enough to say, 'Let's see how everything goes.'" Netflix executive Scott Stuber recently said, as per Comicbook, "We have to be more consistent at making these movies more culturally relevant and putting them in the zeitgeist. We know the audience is there for these movies, but I want people to feel that impact in their conversations with friends and colleagues where they're saying did you hear about this movie Old Guard? We've done it, but we haven't done it consistently."
