‘Recovery Of An MMO Junkie’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

‘Recovery of an MMO Junkie’ or ‘Net-juu no Susume’ is a popular Japanese Manga series that is authored by Rin Kokuyō. After the success of the manga, a television adaptation of the show was undertaken that was directed by Kazuyoshi Yaginuman that aired from October to December 2017. The first season of the anime was widely successful among the fans of the anime and the newcomers alike, and naturally, they are wondering when the second season of the show is going to air. Fans are already speculating that Signal.MD, the studio that handled the first season, will give a green signal for a second season anytime now, but honestly, there is a greater chance that the show might not be renewed for a second season. In June 2018, Comico ended the manga because of Kokuyō’s failing health. Before this, the manga had been on a hiatus since 2015. Because of the lack of source material, the second season might face some delay.

The creator of the anime, Rin Kokuyo, began to publish the anime online in 2013, and in 2015 the series was picked up by Kadokawa, which published the remaining two volumes of the series. Currently, it has 87 chapters in Japanese, where the first 15 chapters are available for everyone to read for free on the internet. The English translation of the manga series was never really released, and only chapters 1-6 are translated by fans. Sadly for the fans, the manga has not released any new content since 2015 because the author fell sick. An official message was released that read, “Currently, Ms. Rin’s physical condition has not reached the point where the manga can be serialized. It is still a situation where she needs rest…. Thank you for your continued patronage and apologies from the bottom of our hearts.” The fans of the show have a lot to worry about, but all hope is not lost. Since there has been no official announcement made yet in terms of the show’s cancellation, it might be very well possible that the show might come back. Keeping that thought in mind, here is everything that you need to know.

Is There A Release Date For A Second Season Of ‘Recovery Of An MMO Junkie’?

As of this writing, no release date for the show has been announced. The first season was released way back in 2017, and since the finale aired, there have been no official announcements for the second, primarily because of the lack of source material. But keep an eye out for this space, as we will update it as soon as something official drops. The season finale left a lot of chances for a second season to develop as it did not provide any solid conclusion.

Are The English Dubbed Episodes Of The Show Available Online?

The anime revolves around Moriko Morioka, the main character, who is experiencing a mid-life crisis and feels overwhelmed by the world and the people around her. As a result, she quits her job after working there for eleven years and discovers newfound freedom. With plenty of time on her hands, she turns to gaming as a way to escape her thoughts and begins playing an RPG game called “Fruits de Mer.” In the game, she creates a handsome male hero character and meets a healer, with whom she spends more and more time at home. Meanwhile, Yuuta Sakurai, a 28-year-old man also seeking solace in the gaming world, coincidentally plays the same game as Moriko. Eventually, the two meet, unaware of the fate that awaits them.

Moriko Morioka– Moriko is the main protagonist of the show. Because of the world and the people around her, she becomes increasingly depressed and finally quits her job. After quitting, she realizes that she is actually happy. With her newfound freedom and ample time in hand, Moriko takes a deep dive into the world of gaming, and she reinvents herself as a handsome male hero. In the same online game, she meets a healer named Lily and starts spending more and more time in the confines of her home.

Yuuta Sakurai– Described as the male protagonist of the show, he is suffering from the same feeling of helplessness and despair as Moriko did. He also joins the gaming world as a means to escape his depressing reality. Although he might come off as an introverted and an aloof person, once you get to know him well, he turns out to be really soft-hearted and caring. He really likes Moriko, but he cannot express his desire since he is really shy and timid and also feels very awkward around her.

Lily– She is the female character who meets Morkio in the same gaming world. Unknown to Moriko, her character is played by none other than Yuuta.
